Striking. Honest. Passionate. With her debut album 'Shake the Dust', Megan Betley takes listeners along on her musical exodus of emotion. Influenced by everything from punk to pop to soul, each song captivates like a page ripped from a diary with unpredictable lyrics and harmonies. The album opens with dreamlike acapella title track ‘Shake the Dust’ and seamlessly takes listeners on a journey in which “no two songs sound the same, yet somehow everything flows so cohesively”. The following track ‘Loveless Bones’ received over 11k hits on Youtube4 and delivers a heartfelt tribute to love lost. The album proceeds to sultry, blues song ‘Midnight Smoke’ and hits such as ‘The One’ and ‘The Dreamer, The Dream’ which share the story of young love, big dreams, and life in New York City. ‘Shake the Dust’ also features ballad “Weightless” currently being considered by NPR Music for their Tiny Desk Concert Contest1 and closes out with “Deals With The Devil”, a shameless rock confessional that has received college, internet, & regional FM radio airplay2. Delivered from a powerful voice, this songstress stands apart.
Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, Megan Betley relocated to Los Angeles in 2013. She has since played at well-known venues such as Molly Malone’s, The Viper Room, and legendary staple House of Blues. In addition she appeared on an episode of MTV’s singing competition show “Copycat” hosted byMean Girls alum Jonathan Bennett3 in June 2014 just before beginning preproduction on the album. Megan kicks off the “Shake the Dust” 2015 tour February 11th at Room 5 Lounge in Los Angeles with dates planned in northern California, Texas, Phoenix and the East Coast as well. With a break out album and a warrior’s attitude, expect big things to come.
