Stagnant. Gutted. Uninspired.  "From the Ashes" embodies how so many of us are feeling these days. Listeners are brought along on an exploration of when depression meets rage, age, & heartbreak - and all of the brutal reflections that accompany each. Influenced by rock to pop to soul, each song on the album captivates like a page ripped from Betley's personal diary. Ethereal opening track ‘stars fall’ sets the tone of the story that lies at the backbone of the album; no two songs sound the same, yet somehow they flow cohesively. Back-to-back ballads "when you were mine" and "wolves & love" deliver a striking heartsick tribute to love lost. The album seems to hit a breaking point with "when they lay me down", one of it's most notably poignant tracks. "I wrote this song around the 20th anniversary of my dad's death which fell on Father's Day this year," Megan reflects. "I fell down this dark, morose rabbit hole of wondering 'it used to be so simple when we were young...is this it now? have I gone as far as I will? is this all I'll ever be?' You never know how long you have to leave your legacy." From there, the album begins it's upward trudge out of the darkness.  The imagery behind title track "from the ashes" is an ode to the phoenix; a bird who dies only to rebirth and rise once again. A new beginning. When asked what she hopes the take away will be for others, she remarked, "I would never be so bold as to assume that something I created could help someone who's struggling, but that's the hope. There's no 'fixing' you - you're a constant ocean of fluctuating waves, of highs and crashing lows. But you're not alone."

Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, Megan Betley released debut album "Shake the Dust" in 2015. She has since toured across the US & Canada playing well-known venues such as House of Blues, Viper Room and legendary staple Whisky-a-GoGo, as well as appearing on an episode of MTV’s singing competition show “Copycat”. Other notable releases include single "Alone With My Thoughts" which received national college & FM radio airplay and follow-up "Smoke Signals" EP in 2016. Megan now resides in Los Angeles, CA with the hopes to tour again post Covid-19.
